Yorkdale Shopping Centre
Toronto, Canada
The ongoing success of Yorkdale demonstrates the deep understanding of the retail sector and development opportunities that has made it possible for Oxford to help drive record sales for the centre’s tenants, while enhancing the value of a core asset.
In 2011, Oxford launched a $220 million initiative that will create 145,000 square feet of fresh retail space at Yorkdale, and attract more than 25 new retailers. An 18,000 sq. ft. expansion of Holt Renfrew’s flagship store will reinforce Yorkdale’s status as Canada’s leading luxury shopping centre, while 800 new underground parking spaces will make shopping at Yorkdale even more convenient. Visitors will find new dining options and a wider selection of attractive seating choices at the relocated and expanded food court. Reflecting Oxford’s Sustainable Intelligence mandate, the development incorporates a 69,000 sq. ft. green roof and a 30,000 sq. ft. rooftop solar photo-voltaic installation that produces clean electricity. Scheduled to open in late 2012, the improvements will build upon the extremely successful $110 redevelopment that was completed just a few years ago. Oxford’s commitment to regularly evaluating and upgrading its properties will strengthen Yorkdale’s regional dominance as a shopping and dining destination.
Yorkdale is co-owned by Oxford and AIMco.
